Commonwealth Credit Union is proud to announce its receipt of a prestigious Governor's Service Award in the Business Service category. Presented at the 28th Annual Governor’s Service Awards held at The Foundry in Frankfort, this accolade highlights CCU's dedication to community involvement, volunteerism, and monetary support, underscoring its commitment to enhancing lives across Kentucky.
The Governor's Service Awards, an initiative championed by Gov. Andy Beshear, celebrate exceptional volunteerism and service contributions that positively impact communities statewide. Serve Kentucky, an agency within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, coordinates this annual event, recognizing individuals and organizations for their significant endeavors.
"At Commonwealth Credit Union, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back," said Karen Harbin, CCU’s President and CEO. "Receiving the Governor's Service Award is a tremendous honor, reflecting our ongoing commitment to empowering individuals and fostering a brighter future for all Kentuckians."
CCU's recognition in the Business Service category acknowledges its partnership with the Metropolitan College program. This collaborative initiative, central to CCU's nomination, focuses on providing financial education and support to college students, equipping them with the tools and resources needed to navigate their educational journey with confidence and financial security.
To date, the partnership has positively impacted over 2,700 college students, empowering them with financial stability and critical life skills. This initiative exemplifies CCU's commitment to community empowerment and the advancement of future leaders in Kentucky.
"As we accept this esteemed award, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Governor's Service Award committee for recognizing our dedication to service," added Harbin. "We also express our sincere appreciation to the communities we serve for inspiring us to make a meaningful difference every day. This award reaffirms our mission of 'Bettering Lives through our Passion to Serve,' and we remain steadfast in our commitment to driving positive change across the Commonwealth."
Commonwealth Credit Union looks forward to continuing its journey of service and impact, furthering its mission of empowering communities and fostering a brighter, more prosperous future for all.
